I’ve already e-mailed participating/prospective artists regarding this and will be sending another e-mail (just in case) soon, but for anyone who might have missed the announcement: the exhibit has been rescheduled to April 2008, to coincide with the opening of the Goethe Institut’s showroom.
This will mean that we’ll be able to feature more artists and their work, which advantage more than makes up for the three-month delay. Details to follow, as we’ll basically be re-planning the event from the ground up.
Please use the contact form for any questions (my e-mail’s been swamped lately so using the contact form would ensure a more prompt response to your feedback). Thank you!

You may notice the site has been tweaked a little (okay, more than a little) so please take a look at the updated pages, especially Submissions, to see what’s new. Some things of note: the guidelines have been expanded to accommodate international submissions, and a hopefully clearer version of the submission procedure has been posted.
The pages have also been updated with a couple of important dates: December 14, 2007, the deadline for submission queries, and January 11, 2008, the deadline for the artwork.
Over the next few days the site will be updated with a FAQ page, an expanded About page, and a gallery featuring assorted Filipino books in their current covers.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you wish to ask a question not covered in this site, or if you would like to put forward a suggestion (in terms of invited artists, for instance, or books for the wishlist). Our contact e-mail is readordie.ph@gmail.com or ephemere@gmail.com; please send all exhibit-related e-mail with subject: Ang Bagong Libro. Thank you!
Reimagining The Filipino Book

Read Or Die in cooperation with the Goethe Institut Manila presents “Ang Bagong Libro,” an art exhibit featuring re-interpreted covers of Filipino books by Filipino artists using their chosen media. The purpose of the exhibit is to create an intersection between Filipino literature (and writers) and Filipino art (and artists) through the medium of book cover design as art.
While we are soliciting pieces from known artists for the exhibit, we are also encouraging artists in general to participate. If you are interested in submitting artwork for the exhibit please take a look at our guidelines.
The exhibit will open on January 25, 2008 at the Goethe Institut, 4-5/F Adamson Centre, 121 Leviste St., Salcedo Village, Makati City.
